High Bid TEN Thousand Dollars – Trumped by ONE Thousand Dollar Bid
RESOLUTION NO. 60-14 (Voting: East Cleveland City Council Meeting December 16, 2014)
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO TRANSFER TO BRANDON L. KING AT A COST OF ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($1,000.00), A PARCEL OF LAND HELD BY THE CITY AS PART OF ITS LAND REUTILIZATION PROGRAM AND LOCATED AT 15612 OAKHILL ROAD, EAST CLEVELAND, OHIO 44112 (PERMANENT PARCEL NO. 673-27-002).
By: Department of Community Development
Sponsored By: Councilor Mansell Baker
A previous bid of $10 thousand dollars was voided because East Cleveland City Councilman Brandon King threatened to sue the city if his low bid was not honored. So the Neighborhood Advisory Board voted to do just that and Mayor Gary Norton ordered that City Council all get their hands dirty with an approval of this land transaction.
East Cleveland City Council did not even hold a committee meeting to discuss this property it was just put on their agenda of things to pass and will make Brandon “LAND” King very happy. We have not been able to reach Mr. Fred Ward the person who also wants this property and he was voted out without notice.
This house will be a good holiday gift at “Black Friday” price of $1,000. King has already padlocked and protected his fantastic purchase. The King family should be happy trumping out a higher bid thanks to the help of Mansell Baker and the rest of his city council colleges.
“Resistance is Futile” and 44112News.com realizes that East Cleveland City Council has no real power and the members will not question the ten thousand dollar bid from Fred Ward. Keep in mind that this property has been on the news at $100 but now another zero has been added to make the low bid one thousand dollars and no one should notice this sale.
The land alone was worth more than one thousand dollars but when you have friend in city hall or you are in city hall deals like this can come along everyday. Is it an Ohio Ethics violation to kick out the high bid so a member of the city council wins the bid at a much lower bid? It’s too bad that East Cleveland City Council will not even give the higher bidder a chance to talk about the money he was offering as they move forward on the sale of this one hundred thousand dollar home at a crazy price of one thousand dollars. Property owners should be ready to stay in their homes forever after this sale is registered because their property values just dropped with their neighbor and City Council person Brandon “LAND” King moving shortly.
Want to get your two cents in just plan to attend the final 2015 meeting, Tuesday December 16, 2014, 6:30 PM, East Cleveland City Hall, 14340 Euclid Ave, East Cleveland Ohio 44112. This is the only item on the agenda so it should be a quick meeting as they can only do a first reading, the actual vote will take place in January 2015 unless the Mayor decided to change this into an Emergency and that means City Councilman Brandon King would get a nice holiday gift just in time to celebrate. For the record the last time this was in Council the issue was over the $100 bid and since it was an emergency there were enough yes votes to pass it.
Hint to Mayor Gary Norton and Councilman Brandon King – Just change this legislation into an emergency like you have done to most of the thing passed by council. Since no one is watching it should be acceptable to do just that or just pass it on the first reading because either way it is what Mayor feels is right and not this powerless City Council.
