“Resourceful Seniors” Meet and talk about Helen S. Brown Center
1/27/2015 – East Cleveland Ohio – Seniors from around the city came together to talk about the future of the now closed Helen S. Brown Center and to hear updated plans from East Cleveland Ohio Mayor Gary Norton and his chief of staff Michael Smedley. Expected presenters included representatives from Cuyahoga County and Pastor Shawn Braxton from New Life Cathedral.
The group was disappointed by the now show from Mayor Norton and others on the speaking list but Pastor Braxton enlightened the group telling them about the church and what he expects to offer seniors willing to give the federal block grants and other money that are to be received for Helen S. Brown and then given to New Life Cathedral if approved.
This group of seniors has had daily meet, greet and eat sessions for many years and since the closing of the Helen S. Brown Center their only contact has been through using the senior phone call list. Now the group will be treated to a heated place to meet rather than the unheated Helen S. Brown Center. The start date for New Life Cathedral to be able to have at least Meal on Wheels delivering lunch is expected to happen February or March 2015 until then the weekly planning meeting give seniors a chance to talk.
